Hi, I’m Kihoko Tokue, a president of Leave a Nest Malaysia established on 14 Oct. 2013. I was born in Tokyo but raised in South East Asia. My dream is to one day change a world with advancement of science and technology with true understanding and appreciation for nature. I believe Malaysia has the right mix of technology advancement and abundant nature for Leave a Nest Malaysia to take up the challenge. With help of Malaysians who share the same vision, I would like to create a platform of researchers who will lead Malaysia to become global leader in innovation.
The parent in Japan, Leave a Nest Co., Ltd, started as a science venture company 13 years ago by 15 graduate science students. To resolve science graduate employment’s problem and the decline in interests for science among the younger generation, an in house training program for university students was developed and workshops in schools were also conducted. Today, we conduct more than 150 workshops per year throughout Japan and have direct network with more than 100 companies, 1,700 teachers, 10,000 researchers. Together with our partners and supporting network, we aim to contribute to the world through Science and Technology by engaging in Science education, human resource training and research developments projects.
The success so far, is not of coincidences but a combination of hard work, the courage to take up new challenges and the active look out for new partners. We have taken new adventure to identify new partners and challenges in the US and Asia Pacific Region particularly in Singapore. Now we have taken another step toward a new stage by setting up a company in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
In order to achieve a sustainable platform to promote exchange of ideas, implement novel concepts and bridge communication between Industries, Schools and Universities, Leave a Nest Malaysia aspire to take lead in the following 3 areas in the first 5 years:
1) To provide the capacity training programs for young researchers and entrepreneur in Malaysia through business training events like Tech Plan Grand Prix and build Malaysia’s own platform of Tech Planter
2) To provide and be the forerunner in Science & Nature Education through workshop, seminars and science events
3) To be the hub in Japan to promote investment in Malaysia by bridging Japanese SME with science and technology to Malaysian counterpart
Here, we would like to invite you to discuss with us and join our borderless and exciting projects to accelerate the making of a global knowledge-based innovative society from Malaysia.
