For more than 80 years, Texas Instruments has used increasingly complex signal-processing technology – with advances ranging from the incremental to the revolutionary – to literally and repeatedly change the world.
Every day, our semiconductor innovations help 100,000 customers unlock possibilities for a smarter, safer, greener, healthier and more enjoyable world. Our focus on building a better future is ingrained in everything we do, from responsible semiconductor manufacturing, to employee care and active involvement with the communities we live in.
TIers are a tremendously diverse group, coming from every continent, embracing scores of different cultures and viewpoints, and speaking dozens of languages; yet we all share a passion for discovery. After all, innovation is what we do.
TI's amazing past is a prologue to an even more incredible future. And in many ways, our story is just beginning.
At Texas Instruments, we design, make and sell high-technology components to customers all over the world. Almost all of our business centers around the sale of integrated circuits – also known as semiconductors or "chips" – to electronics designers and manufacturers. We have a very broad product portfolio, which includes chips that are central to almost all electronic equipment.
We have four segments: Analog, Embedded Processing, Wireless and Other.
We expect Analog, Embedded Processing and the smartphone portion of Wireless to be our primary growth engines in the years ahead. As a consequence, we have been focusing our resources on these areas. We group our remaining revenue, including revenue from our calculators, DLP® products, custom ASIC products and royalties in a segment called "Other."
Texas Instruments has finalized its previously announced acquisition of National Semiconductor. The acquisition combines two industry leaders in the market for analog semiconductors.
